Fat Lighting has spent more than 25 years supporting film and television production in New Zealand - from local shoots to some of the world’s largest international productions.
Our business has been built around a simple principle: good equipment matters, and how it is prepared, maintained and supported matters just as much.
OUR STORY

FAT Lighting started in 2001 with a clear focus: supporting international productions coming into New Zealand. From the beginning, the job was simple—deliver high-end, production-ready lighting—reliable, consistent, and built to meet the expectations of global crews.
As demand grew, we expanded through the acquisition of other local providers and continued to invest in both equipment and infrastructure. Today, FAT operates a modern, large-scale lighting fleet designed to service everything from local productions to major international projects.
We’ve always backed that up with the right people. Good gear only gets you so far—what matters is having a team that knows how to prep it, maintain it, and get it on set ready to go.
Our approach is straightforward: maintain exceptional gear, back it with experienced technicians, and ensure everything arrives on set ready to perform.
